The Advisory Committee
The advisory committee is the policy organ of WPSO that is led by seven (7) women ex-convicts that fully participate in the decision making process of the organization. The committee incorporates women ex-convicts as deemed fit.
Management Team And Staff
Irene Nadunga is a co-founder and Executive Director, Women Prisoners Support Organization. Prior to her appointment, she had a career working with AGOA Country Response Office. She has worked on large scale and regional community initiatives, in areas of, human rights, gender and penal reforms. Her current interests lie in the areas of legislative strategies, sentencing policies, prison design concepts and prison management alternatives.
Johnan Mukisa is a co-founder and Director Operations & Training. Johnan has largely been involved in Penal Reform and has conducted studies for a variety of projects ranging from courthouses to correctional institutions to law enforcement installations. He has remarkable experience in Financial Reporting/Financial analysis, accounting systems development, grants management, preparation and documentation of financial transactions.
Jean Nakabugo Jjumba is a social worker with five years experience. She has worked on a number of projects in Gender and Development, Functional Adult Literacy and Micro Credit. Her major roles are to carry out continuous prison visits as well as ascertain research findings on criminally involved women and the criminal justice system.
Douglas Nkima, Program Officer Rehabilitation and his main roles include; assisting ex-prisoners returning into communities to trace their families, referrals for those in need of healthcare, counseling, monitoring and evaluation and other technical aspects behind the programs.
Alfred Mutanda: (Arbitration Officer).
Alfred has a Masters in Conflict Resolution from Kingston University, UK and is providing vital support to WPSO's conflict and problem solving programs especially between victims, offenders as well as the communities they live in as well as developing programs with psycho social education.
Norah Matovu. Norah is in charge of psycho-social support of inmates and counseling prisoners with HIV/AIDS and mental disabilities
Sarah Tusubira is an Administrative Assistant, WPSO, in charge of all administrative functions as well as publications, press monitoring and organizing important WPSO events.
Rose Kabazaire: (Human Resource Officer) Her role is to provide support in various human resource functions which include recruitment, staffing, training and development performance, monitoring and employee counselling.
Sonia Nasher is the human rights education officer whose roles are to coordinate human rights related activities in areas of detention. She also organizes capacity building workshops on human rights, coordinates activities with other human rights organizations and monitors human rights violations in prisons. |
