In developing countries like ours with unstable political scenario, governments fail to perform their activities properly and hence crime and prisons is never a priority to them
WPSO has various plans on its agenda to improve on the standards of living for inmates as well as a plan to reduce crime in society.
- Enhance a commitment on HIV/AIDS responses at various levels in prisons as wellas malaria and tuberculosis . many offenders are chronically ill. Poor access to medical care and low social economic status places prisoners at a considerable risks especially prisoners who are HIV positive
- To firther extend on WPSO’s network to reach more prisoners an ex convicts.
- To establish rehabilitation center|half way houses for inmates returning back to their communities . without adequate preparation and support for life after prison , chances are high that inmates will return to their former situations and lifestyles. Prisoners leave prison with no savings, no stable housing , no health support and are unemployed with very limited job opportunities. Helping inmates return to their communities pays off.
- Establishing a saving credit scheme for ex-prisoners to find employment and earning a living wage for them to adequately look after their families.
- To provide education t children of prisoners so that they are not engaged in a vicious circle of incarceration
- To monitor human rights abuses in prisons
- To establish a skills center for ex-prisoners empowerement
WPSO has sincere and dedicated members and endeavours to work further to archieve its targeted goals,WPSO needs to be encouraged and assisted by the government and international agencies in order to implement their short and long term programs
